Lottie & Adam’s Grittenham Barn Wedding – Putney Wedding Photographer

By julietlemon August 29 2019 - 08.59 AM

I am so excited to be featuring the gorgeous wedding of the super-lovely Lottie and Adam who were married at the beautiful Grittenham Barn in Petworth, West Sussex.

.

Their incredible day was filled with so much fun, sun, love and laughter and it really was such a delight capturing their big day for them.  On the day I had the talented Soven Amatya from Photography by Soven come and second shoot alongside me which was brilliant fun.  What better way to get an account of Lottie & Adam’s big day than from the newlyweds themselves, so over to the happy couple…

.

Tell us how you met & how long have you been a couple?

We met at work, both working for a large leisure company and Adam was my regional manager. We have been together since April 2015.

.

Who proposed and where?

Adam proposed to me on NYE 2017 into 2018 on the beach in Jamaica. My engagement ring is a square-shaped diamond with a halo around.

.

Tell us about your dress:

My dress was a Mori Lee fitted with a fishtail bottom. It was from the first shop I went to and was the only dress I tried on.  My mum cried when she saw me in it so I knew that is was the one!

.

Tell us about the Groom and what he wore:

Adam wore as grey tail suit with an ivory waistcoat and tie, whereas all the other Groomsmen had light green ties and grey waistcoats to match the bridesmaids.

.

Tell us about the finishing touches:

We were really organised and calm with the whole lead-up and everything just fell into place. Although the day before was pretty crazy we didn’t stop until 6:30 pm and met for dinner at 7pm. All I can say is thanks to my bridesmaid Tash for her dry shampoo!

.

Describe your wonderful wedding day:

On our wedding day we lived our dream! It’s hard to believe that we didn’t argue once about anything to do with the wedding and were simply in agreement with everything we both wanted and made it happen. I handled 90% of the wedding organisation and was permanently teased for having a spreadsheet for everything (I am an accountant after all!) Adam was in charge of 2 things alcohol and Lego.

.

Our wedding had a strong Disney and Marvel theme. Everyone was a different Disney character and for that each person had a Lego figure for their character. This project took over Adam’s and my brother Josh’s lives for about 4 months and was named ‘Project 226′ as they didn’t want anyone to know about it.

.

The ladies were all up on the day by 6am and we were dancing around the house ready and raring to go as hair and makeup arrived at 7am. It was so exciting (and EMOTIONAL!!!) all being there together getting ready for the day ahead.

.

The men were up later from what I hear and Adam still managed to enjoy the pamper wet shave treat my Uncle gave him and his hairdresser sorted his hair. The wedding started at 12:30 and I believe I was only 4 minutes late on site so that’s not bad I guess… The ceremony was filled with love and included readings from my 2 cousins. One is only 15 and he truly made my heart melt as I was so proud to show him off to everyone. We had 2 very special people as our witnesses; the first was Adam’s Mum. She is a very special and inspirational lady whom we adore and admire daily so it was only right she was centre of attention on our special day. Then the other was my Godfather Richard who now lives in Perth, Australia. He, my Godmother and their son came all the way back for this day and let’s just say that the reunion after 4 years not seeing him was emotional.

.

After the ceremony we had welcome drinks – my favourite pink Prosecco and Adam’s favourite Desperado. After a short while we were greeted by the tune of our Mrs. Whippy ice cream van and that was a huge hit with everyone even though I didn’t have one. Adam had 4 I think… After photos, chatting, canapés and more drinks it was time for food and speeches. Our best man John was so nervous about his speech yet it was hands down the funniest speech most people had heard from a best man. It was brilliantly thought-out and so well planned! My Dad was also very nervous about his, but did really well and made everyone laugh and cry!

.

It was now time to get the party started as our evening guests had arrived and the band was set up! We cut the cake and gave the grand reveal as from the front it looked like a normal wedding cake, but the back had 4 Marvel characters which no one saw until then! It was then on to our first dance. From a young age I loved Ballroom dancing so my one insistence for the wedding was that Adam had to learn to dance and he did! We did a Viennese Waltz inspired dance to Nathan Sykes’s ‘Over And Over Again’.  Adam smashed it and there were a lot of surprised faces after this. I danced with my Dad, Grandad and Brother. These are the 3 men in my life who are my rocks so I had to make sure I danced with all 3. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room during this! Then it was time for the band to kick-start the evening and boy did they!!! Even Juliet and Soven where on the dance floor! We chose this band and lead singer for when we saw them Hayley had smashed ‘Proud Mary’ out the park. Adam told her she had to sing it on the day – she made him wait until their last song and it was such a great ending to their set! We then had an hour of music before the day was over. I think in that hour we consumed 6 bottles of Tequila Rosé, Apple Sours, Sambuca and who knows what else! Our day was truly magical, absolutely perfect and we loved every second of it!

.

What was the favourite part of your wedding day?

Seeing our nearest and dearest so happy! Weddings are a time where nothing else matters but that moment of celebrating 2 people and that exactly what it was. We laughed, cried and danced the night away and it was everything we had dreamed of and more!

.

What made you pick the venue you did for your wedding?

We saw many venues, from the grand castles to barns and knew we wanted a barn vibe. I actually visited our venue first on my own as Adam had to work. I walked in and just got a feeling it was the right one and fell in love with it. I texted Adam straight away saying “I love it, not going to be beaten” he replied “Book it”, but me being me wouldn’t until he saw it as well. So I made him drive there the following weekend to confirm and he loved it too!

.

Food/Music Evening Entertainment/Music:

Vanilla Catering – their food was delicious and the staff ensured the smooth running of the day. Blue Lion Band – nothing other to say than they were truly amazing, the dance floor was never empty and Hayley the lead singer had everyone singing along and dancing. Can’t recommend this band enough!!!

.

During the evening reception we had the Boomerang Booth which was a total hit with everyone and such a great addition to the wedding! Everyone loved spending time creating funny selfie stills and hilarious boomerangs all evening. The best part by far for us newlyweds was getting the link in the morning seeing the gallery of images - we are still laughing about them now!

.

Any advice you would give to other couples planning their dream wedding day?

Remember it’s about you both and what you want, not anyone else. Plan your dream and everyone else will love it too!

.

Tell us about your experience with your wedding photographer Juliet from Juliet Lemon Photography on your wedding day:

Juliet is the most down-to-earth and lovable character! She made us feel so relaxed and the photos are nothing short of outstanding! She captured our day perfectly and reliving our day through them is truly wonderful.  We have about 20 printed already which have pride of place around our home!
