ENGAGED…..Cat & Darren’s engagement session at Waverley Abbey in Farnham, Surrey

By julietlemon June 17 2014 - 06.20 AM

I’m so excited to be sharing Cat and Darren’s wonderful engagement shoot.  They are to be married at Northbrook Park in Farnham this Summer.  It’s been such an honour getting to know them since they booked me eighteen months ago.

With Darren being a fast car fan it seemed rude not to arrange to meet up at the Le Mans 24 hour race last year where I was working and, coincidentally, it happened to be his birthday weekend – not that he had told  his mates that it was his birthday, but fortunately Cat had informed me beforehand.  So with the help of my super duper Audi race engineer friend Leena Gade , (who has since gone on to win another 2 Le Mans 24 hour races!) I was able to organize a birthday card for him, signed by the Audi drivers and mechanics.  Darren was over the moon about this and enjoyed not only an awesome time track side but also had great fun using my 400mm f/2.8 lens!  A minor perk of knowing a professional motor sports photographer! (For those of you who don’t know, my photography work is rather varied. Click here ………. to have a peek!)
Waverley Abbey, an English Heritage site in Farnham, was the location of their engagement shoot.  The 10th Century ruins formed a spectacular backdrop, with the crumbling stone work surrounded by a sea of buttercups.  Add to this the most perfect Spring day, we could not have asked for a more splendid setting.
They were really up for the shoot, despite Darren having flown in from New York that morning, and arrived armed with props.  As you can see they were really relaxed and ‘naturals’ in front of the camera and we had a giggle with their props – Darren brought an F1 magazine while Cat had her favourite Baking book.  I thoroughly approved of their choice of libation – wine for the lady and ale for the gentleman.
A huge ‘Thank you’ to the couple for being such a pleasure to photograph.  I am sure that you will enjoy looking at their pictures and I can’t wait for their wedding!!! x
