On a beautiful sunny afternoon I caught up with the super delightful Kate and Dan for their pre-wedding engagement photography session. Hever Castle in Kent, which dates back to 1270, was the location for the shoot and we had a ball strolling around and snapping away in the beautifully manicured gardens. Amazing to think that Anne Boleyn once lived here!
Surrounded by flowers and verdant vines we made our way through the Italian Gardens, the Rose Gardens and on down to The Lake Loggia, where, after Dan had tipped Kate upside down for a few photos, we were lucky to be lent a rowing boat for the couple to enjoy and this was skillfully rowed by Dan.
With Dan being from South Africa we had to get a bit of African wildlife action into the shoot and the couple, growling like lions in the long grass, was so much fun to capture.
Engagement photo shoots are such a great way for couples to meet the camera before their wedding day and get used to being photographed professionally. Kate and Dan had been really looking forward to the shoot and were super chilled about being in the spot light. We did have a giggle amongst ourselves as passersby in the gardens looked inquisitively at them being photographed, wondering if they were famous! Of course I had briefed the couple in advance telling them that if anyone did ask they should say that it was a photo shoot for Vogue magazine!
It was so nice to spend time with the couple, catch up on all the details of their forthcoming wedding day and refine the photography plans for their big day. When I normally see Kate we talk about business and finance as she is my Bank Manager! I know… how brilliant is that! I’m photographing my Bank Manager’s wedding!!! She has been such an amazing professional to me and my business over the years that it will be an absolute delight to reciprocate and do my absolute best for her and Dan.
Many of their guests are coming from abroad and hearing all the plans they described I know that everyone is going to have an incredible day and love every moment of the wedding celebrations. They’ve incorporated so many thoughtful details and touches that it will truly be a pleasure to photograph their day.
I’m really looking forward to doing their wedding photography. later on this month at the Nutfield Priory in Redhill, Surrey – I can’t wait!! x
