In the heart of Wolverhampton is the hidden gem of a gorgeous wedding venue, Pendrell Hall, which is where Jen and David were married. Fortunately the sun decided to join us for the whole day making it just perfect.
The venue was absolutely spectacular, surrounded by beautifully manicured lawns, walled gardens and grazing sheep in the neighbouring field. Inside, the high-ceilinged rooms were bright, filled with sunlight streaming in through the large sash windows. When I arrived lots of friends and family were busy setting up the decorations and details for the day; from fairy lights, pompoms, photo frames from their parent’s and grandparent’s wedding days, vintage jugs and jam jars of wild flowers.
Outside lots was going on too; garden games were being set up – Jenga, croquet, boules as well as the rigging up of a big bubble machine.
The bride got ready upstairs while the Groom was downstairs coordinating the setup, so when the Bride wanted to pop down to check that all was going according to plan everyone had to ensure he was out of the way to avoid being seen by her. Fortunately the logistics worked and Jen was able to do her checks without being seen by her husband-to-be! I was amazed at just how quickly and smoothly the decoration was completed – great organising Jen!
Back upstairs the Bride and her lovely Bridesmaids finished getting ready in their beautiful dressing room. With a big window affording fabulous natural light and lots of mirrors, I was in photography heaven. The girls perfected their makeup in record time and after a very delicate operation of getting the Bride into her stunning wedding dress, they had ample time to spare, so the sipping of champagne and girlie giggling continued.
Downstairs friends and family had started to arrive and take their seats in the ceremony room and a nervous David was accompanied by his two best men at the front, all waiting patiently for the arrival of his Bride.
Following her lovely Bridesmaids and two super-cute Flower Girls, the radiant Jen, beaming with excitement and happiness, made her way down the aisle with her Dad to join her Husband-to-be.
The beautiful service was complemented by the couple’s lovely vows and after the exchanging of rings and a passionate kiss whilst the wedding party applauded and cheered, the newlyweds walked up the aisle hand in hand, smiling from ear to ear.
The reception was fun-filled and an absolute delight to photograph. Jen and David were congratulated by their guests with the traditional throwing of confetti at the front of Pendrell Hall. The couple walked through the showering of coloured petals, laughing all the way and thanks to some superb confetti throwing action from the excited guests I was able to capture lots of wonderful shots.
For the rest of the reception the guests mingled on the lawn, enjoying the warmth of the sunshine, sipping champagne and chatting away. The garden games kept the small and big children amused and the bubbles were a huge hit with everyone. It really was the best bubble machine I have ever seen at a wedding and as you can see from the photos, provided me with lots of excellent photo opportunities. I really was in my element!
After the wedding breakfast came the speeches and they certainly did not disappoint. Jen’s Dad shared some wonderful stories about Jen and also reunited her with some of her nicknacks, including a kitty cat calendar from a few years ago. The groom had us all in hysterics with the story of his first date with Jen and the two best men treated us with many tales of injuries on golf courses through to the life expectancy of sea otters!
The rest of the evening was so much fun. Everyone enjoyed a brilliant time, drinking, being merry, being silly in the JLP Photo Booth (more of that you’ll see in Part 2) and lots of dancing when the band, The Adbuctors, took to the stage.
Jen and David, it was such an honour photographing your GORGEOUS wedding day and meet all your lovely friends and family. You two are such a lovely couple and I wish you both all the happiness in the world xxx
