MARRIED…..Russ & Katy’s Leigh-on-Sea Seaside Wedding – Putney Wedding Photographer

By julietlemon November 19 2014 - 01.10 PM

Welcome to Russ & Katy’s stunning and incredibly fun-filled seaside wedding.

The quaint seaside town of Leigh-on-Sea, Essex was the setting for their day and as you can see from the photos, we were blessed with blue skies and lots of sunshine which was ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL!

My first port of call was with the Groom and his Best Man; both had clearly got ready very early so they welcomed their photo session.  They seemed incredibly well organised, all thanks to the order of the day timetable printouts, courtesy of the Bride (Katy, your organisational skills ROCK!!!).

There was a lot more commotion over at the Bride’s place!  Katy and her entourage had just returned from the beauty salon and her super-efficient three brothers zoomed left, right and centre organising things and picking up people.  There was such a wonderful buzz at the house with her three stunning and truly lovely bridesmaids helping with the final details, through to getting the bride dressed.  It really is such a wonderful part of the day seeing the girls pull together to assist the Bride-to-be with her transformation into a breathtakingly beautiful Bride!

Katy had planned the day meticulously but there was one little glitch she hadn’t counted on…

The lovely vintage wedding car that was due to take her to the church broke down a few yards away from her house… the clutch had gone!  EEEEEEEEEEEEK!!  The car company had dispatched a replacement  that wasn’t actually far away but the Bride wisely decided not to delay the ceremony and keep her Groom waiting, so alternative plans were swiftly made.  She got into the white London cab that was originally meant for the Bridesmaids and their next door neighbour kindly came to the rescue and chauffeured the Bridesmaids to the church keeping everything on time.

I was so impressed with Katy; she kept her cool throughout this little transport glitch and didn’t let it faze her at all!  I later found out that exactly the same thing had happened on her parents’ wedding day…  Their wedding car broke down too so I’m sure that this was a good omen and a sign of a long and happy marriage!

The church was filled to the rafters with the couple’s friends and family, all super-excited to be witnessing their marriage and sharing their day with them. At the front stood a very calm Groom ready to be joined by his Bride and for them to say the most important words they’ll ever say.

The newlyweds made their way up the aisle and out into the glorious sunshine where their well-wishers flocked to congratulate them.  After photos at the church and lots of great confetti-throwing action the couple led their wedding party through the cobbled streets of Leigh-on-Sea down to the waterside venue reception at The Boatyard. The guests enjoyed canapés and drinks whilst I headed up the narrow lanes for a few photos with the couple for a little spot of  ‘alone time’ photos.  There were so many picturesque places and things –  it really was a photographer’s dream: beach, boats, ice-creams, beach balls, fish stalls and the seascape – all perfect for photos!

Fortunately the replacement wedding car was able to join us for the photos and it came bearing champagne which the couple enjoyed and we were chauffeured back to the party once we’d finished the little photo session.

The reception and atmosphere were excellent and such fun with everyone basking in the warmth of the sunshine, enjoying the fresh sea air with people on passing boats waving and hollering out their congratulations.

The wedding breakfast was absolutely delicious with fresh sea-food on the menu.  The speeches followed and they were superb.  Everyone was so entertained; lots of laughter and applause at the amusing parts and a few tears of happiness shed with the kind and thoughtful parts of the speeches.

The rest of the night cranked up another gear to full-on party mode.  The Bride’s bother’s band played a set which had everyone dancing like crazy, the bar tenders were rushed off their feet fulfilling the many orders for Tequila shots (yes there were many sore heads the next morning!) and fun sparkler antics out on the deck continued late into the night.

Katy and Russ, it was such a delight photographing your stunning seaside wedding and I hope that these photos bring back lots of wonderful memories of your gorgeous wedding day x
