MARRIED…..Vicky & Stuart’s Surrey Forest Wedding…….lots of wellington boots & a barefoot groom!

By julietlemon November 5 2012 - 11.56 AM

Welcome to Vicky & Stuart’s wedding and golly what an incredible day it was and definitely a wedding with a difference!!

Yup, everyone, even the bride, wore wellington boots to the wedding, with one notable exception…  the groom, who was barefoot.  The setting of their wedding ceremony was picturesque, set in the heart of a forest in Surrey, beside the calm waters of a moat in Elstead, Surrey, with the canopy of the pine trees providing refreshing shade for the service. The bride walked in along an aisle  of pine needles, lined with pine cones on either side and at the end, facing the still lake waters, met her barefoot groom.  It was such an intimate service with lots of fun and giggles throughout.  Leaving the ceremony as newly weds, to the sounds of hand bells rung by the boys, Vicky and Stuart walked through a shower of fresh rose petals used  as confetti by the guests.  The wedding party enjoyed glasses of Pimms in the forest and alongside  an impromptu game of cricket took place for the youngsters – a stick as a bat and a pine cone as a ball!

The reception was in Thursley Village Hall, a short walk through the forest and over the hills, so off the whole wedding party set, guided by a GPS being operated by the best man.  It really was an incredible sight; a large group of people dressed in their Sunday best walking over the hills of Surrey, which were carpeted in the rich purple from the flowering heather…….. it was like a scene from Jane Eyre or Pride and Prejudice……..except for the wellington boots of course!!

At the village hall, afternoon tea was waiting for everyone.  Freshly brewed pots of tea, delicate finger sandwiches, delicious cakes and scones.  There was so much thought and so many intricate details incorporated into their day to make this an exceptional wedding.  The hand-made bunting (crafted by the bride) that decorated the village hall, an edible penny sweet ring, which of course was munched on by the groom, the cute tags and labels on the vintage tea crockery, retro penny sweets (yum yum!), the personalised pegs for everyone’s wellington boots, the fun photos of the couple taken over the years in different parts of the world displayed around the hall, little chalk boards dotted around the hall, king size jenga pieces outside for the kids (and adults!)

The couples’ allotment in Weybridge played a big part in their day too as it proved to be the source of much of the decoration……..from there came fresh wild flowers to make up Vicky’s and her bridesmaid’s bouquets, plants and flowers potted in rustic terracotta pots were the centre pieces for the tables, clusters of homegrown veggies decorated the windowsills and little jars of fresh honey from the couple’s beehive were the wedding favours for the guests…….a really sweet touch!

Once the speeches were done……which btw were excellent……..the wedding party moved into the marquee, where the evening antics took place with a highly amusing slideshow and lots of interesting shapes being thrown on the dance floor.

Really hope you enjoy looking at some of Vicky & Stuart’s photos……. x
