Thought you’d like to see some more photographs from my recent travels to Madagascar – enjoy x

Driving through the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo, on the way back from teaching a Lemur Photography Workshop, we drove past an area of cleared and flattened earth that was soon due to be turned into a bus and taxi-brousse depot.  But in the meanwhile, many people were taking full advantage of the open space and with all the hustle and bustle going on I insisted that we pull over so I could take some photographs.

The setting sun cast a soft light, which filtered through the dusty air giving a lovely warm glow to the vista.  Kids on their way back from school walking in small clusters, people pulling their carts and making their way home after a long day working in the capital created lovely silhouettes against the dusty backdrop.  A group of  young lads congregated to play football in the coolness of the late afternoon, making the most of the last few hours of sunlight, because at 6.00 pm darkness would descend.

We’re so fortunate to photograph lots of really lovely people and I’m delighted to introduce you to a budding star whose acting head shot we took.  Everyone, meet Ellis Seamons.  The lovely bunch at Burhill Golf Club kindly put Ellis in touch with me and it was a real pleasure working with her to get a selection of great acting head shots for her.

Ellis has put a few words together to tell everyone more about her…..

“Last year I graduated from the University of Chichester with a degree in Performing Arts and was lucky enough to spend 3 years doing something I loved. Now I’m out looking for work in the big wide world and it’s pretty scary! Although, during my final month at univeristy I auditoned to be a part of my lecturer’s theatre company, Bootworks, and fortunately got in. Myself and three others created a new project, La Boite Noire, for the company and toured it all over England last summer and will continue to do the same this summer. Bootworks specialise in outdoor theatre, touring to non-traditional locations and presenting cutting edge street theatre. So if you happen to see 4 red tricycles with a red box attached to back, stop and check us out!

http://bootworkstheatre.co.uk/bootworks/The_Red_Boxes/The_Red_Boxes.html

During my final year of university, myself and four other girls devised and performed our very own production and since then we have created our very own theatre company, Maiden Theatre. We performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year and recieved many positive reviews, one including a 4 star review from The Stage. We are looking to create another piece later on this year and see where that one takes us!

Other than that, I am currently working two jobs at the moment to save money for my up and coming trip to the USA for two months to see what opportunities are out there for the arts. I love theatre and everything about it and am ready and willing to develop and experiment my skills within the wide variety of performance.”

Ellis was such a joy to work with and her passion, drive and determination to go far really shines through.  Any agents out there should snap her up PRONTO!!  We look forward to seeing her name in bright lights and of course the head shot that we took plastered everywhere!! x

Here is what the photographers from our last workshop said……

“Wow! What else can I say other than a big ‘THANK YOU’ for teaching me how to use my brand new camera. This was my first ever time using a dSLR and you made it so easy to learn. After the first 20 minutes I was starting to think more creatively and began playing around with the menus and settings. Your professional and friendly guidance helped me to start thinking as a photographer and not a point and shoot tourist! By the end of the night I was starting to take photos that I am proud of. Cant wait to apply all I learnt and I’m looking forward to your next lesson at London Bridge. Anyone scared by their camera should come to one of Jules’ photography workshop nights!!” – Paul

“Hey Juliet – just wanted to say a massive thanks for braving the cold and taking us out the other night. From the introductory chat, through the supervised shooting and all the way to the pub at the end I learned so much – and not just about camera settings and techie stuff! The nicest surprise was the insight you gave into creative shots and unusual angles which is what I really like about your pics. It was great that you shared so much of that and getting exposed to your thoughts about the things that were around us that we didn’t even notice has really helped me to get the sort of shots I want. I can’t say thanks enough!” - Tom

Busy on the blog today!  Thought you’d like to have a cheeky sneak peek of Saturday’s wedding.  The absolutely gorgeous Victoria & Denis got married in St Barnabas Church in Molesey and had their reception at the super stunning Oatlands Park Hotel in Weybridge.  We were so luck with the weather, despite the recent sub zero weather temperatures, we had a sunny clear sky day with snow still on the ground.  As landscape gardeners, the newly weds are used to being out in all the elements and were more than happy to frolic around in the snow and have an absolute giggle.  Really hope that you like looking at these photos and more to follow soon x

Happy Valentines Day to you all!!  Here is a sneak peek of a super fun Rock The Frock photo shoot that we did with the gorgeous newly weds Amanda & Cliff whose wedding we photographed in January.

As you can see from the photos, their Rock the Frock shoot was on a bitterly cold day with fresh snow on the ground so of course they had to have a snowball fight!!  Please to report that it didn’t end in tears as you can see from the last photo on this post!!  More photos from their Rock the Frock photo shoot to follow soon!! Enjoy x

This year, one of my photography resolutions was to get my work featured more, win more awards and competitions.  As we all know, you’ve got to be in it to win it, and this is a great start to the year.  Last month I submitted three of my photographs into a fashion photography competition which I have just found out that I have WON and my prize is a photographic pass to LONDON FASHION WEEK!  How exciting!!

I was fortunate enough to photograph at London Fashion week a few years ago so I am delighted to be going back.

Of course none of this would have been possible without the incredible people I have worked with which has enabled me to take these great pictures, so big THANKS to the gorgeous Paige in the stable fashion shoot, Chloe the incredible designer who is the talent behind Hatastic and the two stunning Hatastic models Sophie and Luella > you can follow them all on twitter: @PaigeRobbinsUK @Hatastic @Sophia_Sinclair

Just over 2 weeks to go until London Fashion week and promise to blog and tweet about my photography antics there!! x
