There is something undeniably special about a Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding.
Nestled on the famous King’s Road, this iconic London venue has been hosting stylish city weddings for generations. Its elegant architecture, central location and unmistakable London charm make it one of the most sought-after registry office wedding venues in the capital.
As a Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding photographer and London wedding photographer, I always love returning here. Every wedding feels different, yet the venue consistently offers the perfect blend of character, style and atmosphere.
The images featured throughout this blog come from Erin and Robert’s wonderful summer wedding. Their celebration offers a glimpse into what makes a Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding feel so memorable.
WHO ARE ERIN & ROBERT AND WHAT MADE THEIR CHELSEA WEDDING SO SPECIAL?
Every couple brings their own energy to a wedding day, and Erin and Robert’s celebration felt effortlessly stylish from beginning to end.
They chose an intimate London wedding surrounded by their closest family and friends. Rather than planning a large traditional celebration, they focused on creating a day that felt meaningful, relaxed and completely true to them.
Their July wedding began at Chelsea Old Town Hall before continuing through the streets of Chelsea to Daphne’s for a beautiful wedding breakfast. Along the way, they embraced everything that makes a London wedding so memorable, from iconic architecture and bustling streets to those wonderful in-between moments spent with loved ones.
The result was a day full of warmth, laughter and genuine connection.

WHY IS CHELSEA OLD TOWN HALL ONE OF LONDON’S MOST ICONIC WEDDING VENUES?
Every time I photograph a wedding here, I am reminded why couples continue to choose Chelsea Old Town Hall.
The venue feels elegant without being intimidating. It has a wonderful sense of occasion, yet the atmosphere remains warm and welcoming throughout the day.
Located in the heart of Chelsea, it offers couples an intimate ceremony setting while placing them amongst some of London’s most beautiful streets. Once the ceremony ends, the city becomes part of the celebration.
That combination is difficult to find elsewhere and is one of the reasons this venue remains so popular.
WHAT IS IT LIKE TO GET MARRIED AT CHELSEA OLD TOWN HALL?
One of the things I love most about Chelsea Old Town Hall weddings is how naturally the day unfolds.
Guests arrive along King’s Road before gathering inside for the ceremony. There is always a lovely sense of anticipation as family and friends take their seats and wait for everything to begin.
After the ceremony, the atmosphere shifts immediately. Couples step onto the famous front steps, confetti fills the air and celebrations begin in earnest.
Meanwhile, the surrounding streets provide the perfect setting for photographs, allowing couples to enjoy the experience rather than feeling rushed from one location to another.
HOW DOES CHELSEA LOOK DURING A SUMMER WEDDING?
London can be beautiful at any time of year, but summer weddings in Chelsea have a particularly special atmosphere.
The wedding featured throughout this blog took place on a glorious July day. Warm sunshine filled the streets, blue skies stretched overhead and Union Jack bunting added a distinctly British touch to the surroundings.
As guests moved through Chelsea, the neighbourhood felt vibrant and full of life. Red buses rolled past, outdoor cafés buzzed with conversation and the city provided a backdrop that felt both energetic and romantic.
It was one of those days when London looked its absolute best.
WHAT SHOULD YOU WEAR FOR A CHELSEA OLD TOWN HALL WEDDING?
Chelsea Old Town Hall weddings often lend themselves beautifully to modern and fashion-forward bridal style.
Erin’s look was a perfect example. She wore a stunning two-piece Suzanne Neville outfit from Miss Bush that felt elegant, contemporary and effortlessly stylish.
The combination of a crop top and flowing skirt suited the city setting perfectly. It offered a fresh take on bridal fashion whilst remaining timeless and sophisticated.
Her look was beautifully complemented by Birute Thomas and Rosie H from The Bridal Stylists, creating a polished and refined finish that worked wonderfully against the backdrop of Chelsea.
WHY IS CHELSEA PERFECT FOR NATURAL AND CANDID WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
Chelsea has a wonderful balance of elegance and energy, which makes it ideal for natural wedding photography.
Beautiful architecture, charming side streets and iconic London details create a stunning backdrop. At the same time, the neighbourhood feels relaxed enough for genuine moments to unfold naturally.
Rather than relying on elaborate posing, I encourage couples to enjoy their day and spend time together. As a result, photographs feel authentic and full of personality.
This documentary approach works particularly well for London weddings because the city itself becomes part of the story.

WHAT MAKES THE CHELSEA OLD TOWN HALL STEPS SO FAMOUS?
Few wedding locations in London are as recognisable as the steps of Chelsea Old Town Hall.
For many couples, this is one of the most anticipated moments of the day. It marks the point where the ceremony ends and the celebrations truly begin.
After exchanging vows, Erin and Robert stepped outside to cheers, laughter and a wonderful shower of confetti. Family and friends gathered around them while passing buses added a little extra London character to the scene.
The atmosphere felt joyful, spontaneous and completely unforgettable.
WHERE ARE THE BEST PLACES FOR WEDDING PHOTOS AROUND CHELSEA OLD TOWN HALL?
One of the biggest advantages of getting married at Chelsea Old Town Hall is the variety of photography opportunities nearby.
King’s Road offers classic London energy, while the surrounding streets provide elegant architecture, charming corners and beautiful shopfronts.
Chelsea is filled with character, which means couples never need to travel far for stunning photographs. Even a short walk can produce a wonderfully varied gallery of images.
The best photographs often happen naturally as couples move through the neighbourhood and enjoy the experience together.
WHY DO COUPLES LOVE WALKING BETWEEN THEIR CEREMONY AND RECEPTION IN CHELSEA?
Walking between venues is one of my favourite parts of many London weddings.
It creates space for couples and guests to relax, chat and enjoy the atmosphere of the city. Along the way, there are countless opportunities for natural moments that simply cannot be staged.
For Erin and Robert, the walk to Daphne’s became part of the story itself. Friends laughed together, guests admired the surroundings and the celebrations continued naturally through the streets of Chelsea.
Those unscripted moments often become some of the most treasured photographs from the day.
WHAT IS IT LIKE TO CELEBRATE AT DAPHNE’S CHELSEA?
Daphne’s was the perfect choice for Erin and Robert’s wedding breakfast.
Known for its elegant interiors and welcoming atmosphere, it provided a beautiful setting for an intimate celebration.
The transition from registry office ceremony to relaxed dining felt seamless. Guests could settle in, enjoy wonderful food and continue celebrating in one of Chelsea’s most loved restaurants.
Smaller London weddings often work particularly well because they allow couples to focus on experience, connection and atmosphere.
WHY ARE INTIMATE LONDON WEDDINGS SO POPULAR?
Many couples are choosing smaller weddings because they allow greater flexibility and a more personal experience.
Rather than focusing on guest numbers, couples can invest in the elements that matter most to them. This might include an incredible venue, exceptional food, beautiful photography or simply spending meaningful time with loved ones.
Erin and Robert’s wedding was a wonderful example of how intimate celebrations can feel both luxurious and deeply personal.
The day never felt rushed. Instead, every moment could be fully enjoyed and appreciated.

WHAT MAKES LONDON SUCH AN INCREDIBLE PLACE TO GET MARRIED?
London offers something very few cities can match.
Historic architecture sits alongside modern city life, creating endless variety throughout a wedding day. One moment you may be standing outside a beautiful registry office and the next you are walking through bustling streets filled with iconic London character.
As someone born and raised in London, I never take that for granted. The city continues to surprise me, even after photographing weddings here for many years.
Because every neighbourhood has its own personality, every wedding feels unique. Chelsea remains one of my favourites because it combines elegance, energy and timeless London charm so beautifully.

KIND WORDS FROM ERIN & ROBERT
“Juliet made our wedding day so special and put us at ease.
We are not the type of couple who love pictures and shy away from them, but Juliet made us feel amazing. I would highly recommend her.
Everyone at our wedding said Juliet was so lovely, very professional and incredibly friendly. They barely noticed they were being photographed.
Thank you for making our day so special.”

PART ONE OF ERIN AND ROBERT’S BEAUTIFUL TWO-PART WEDDING STORY
Erin and Robert’s Chelsea wedding was only the beginning.
A few months later, they celebrated the second chapter of their wedding story with a beautiful Surrey marquee wedding surrounded by lakes, countryside views and stunning florals.
Photographing both celebrations was a genuine privilege because each day felt completely different while reflecting the same wonderful connection between them.
