2014 The Review

By julietlemon December 28 2014 - 10.19 PM
WOWZERS!  2014 for this little Lemon has been jam-packed with so many incredible shoots, people, places and adventures together with so much fun and laughter.

Weddings this year have been out of this world and truly fabulous.  A big THANK YOU to all my lovely couples for choosing me to photograph your gorgeous wedding days – it has been such an honour.  Wedding venues I’ve photographed at this year include…

Hampton Court Palace, Rivervale Barn, Hartsfield Manor, Royal Holloway, Hylands House, Wotton House, The Century Club, Chandos House, Burford Bridge, Huntsham Court, The Lansdowne Club, Northbrook Park, Parkside School, The Boatyard in Leigh-on-Sea, Rhinefield House, Q-Vardis, Hedsor House, Bury Court Barn, Julian Club, Pembroke Lodge, Great Fosters, Denbies Vineyard, Spencer House, Nutfield Priory, Babington House, several marquees and of course not forgetting the stunning wedding in South Africa which I still have to blog about and share with you – that’ll be with you in the New Year, I promise!

As many of my wedding clients and friends will know I’ve had a bit of a thing for a spot of ‘tiger action’ this year and we’ve all enjoyed we a huge giggle in the process…  I hope you’ll agree with me, the photos are GRRRRRRRREAT (sorry, I couldn’t resist!).

As well as the weddings, the Engagement Shoots have been equally brilliant this year.  They are such a wonderful way for my couples to get used to being photographed together professionally and realise that the shoot is super-fun so that they feel really excited about the next round of photos on their big day.

Two new additions to the team are the very talented Emily and James  and I am grateful to Brad and Alex, who still work alongside me for shoots requiring more than one Lemon!  The Photo Booth has been a great hit at weddings this year and I’ve had so much fun doing it.  It is hilarious seeing the adults become big kids, of course making the most of the props, as they unleash their wild side in front of the cameras.  The zebra head is still my favourite!

The foxy Boudoir Photo Shoots have been super-popular this year with quite a few fellers treating their ladies and well as ladies doing the shoot as a surprise for their fellers.  I shoot the Boudoir Photos in a really classy style and understandably I don’t blog these photos but take it from me, they are FREAKING HOT TO TROT images!  The shoots are so much fun, the results incredible and my clients all come away from the shoot with a new found confidence because they can finally see how incredible they look!  Here is a lovely ‘thank you’ message I received the other day from a recent Boudoir Photo Shoot client:

‘Choosing Juliet to take my Boudoir Photos was one of the best decision I made leading up to my wedding.  I was drawn towards her tasteful and classy shots on her website so decided to give her a call.  On the phone, rather than giving me a price like other people had done, she was so interested in chatting about me to find out about my wedding and my fiancé.  This put me at absolute ease and I wasn’t nervous any more.  The shoot was booked and I was excited!  As soon as I met Juliet I felt comfortable in her company.  We made some decisions about the kind of shots I would like and we got cracking.  Juliet gets inspiration from you, the light and her surroundings to create some amazing, sexy shots and I can’t really believe is actually me!  Needless to say that my husband absolutely LOVES the photos which I gave to him as a gift and not only has it been a brilliant gift for him but a massive confidence boost for me!”

I don’t really mention much about my other photography work besides the weddings and lifestyle stuff on this website; I keep that for my other website but I will give a little sneaky rundown of some of the highlights there….

The range of corporate shoots I’ve had throughout the year have been so varied; from one-man-bands and start-ups through to global corporations.  In terms of highlights, at the top of the list is having photographed a member of the Royal Family, which I guess allows me to say that this Lemon is officially by Royal Appointment!  I was the official and only photographer at the Duke of Kent’s Royal visit to Thannet Earth in Kent and it was superb.  It was rather amusing because I wasn’t nervous about anything to do with the photos because I knew they’d be great (and they were), however the thing that I was most worried about was curtsying properly because I’ve never curtsied before!  I mean seriously…. who has ever curtsied before?!?!?!  I gave it my best shot but do think that I looked like someone having a seizure as opposed to someone attempting to be an elegant lady!

My corporate shoots take me to some quite alright places and some of the amazing locations and super-swanky venues include…

Vinopolis, The Lansdowne Club, The Brewery in London City, The Royal College of Surgeons, The Connaught Rooms, The Red Lemon in Notting Hill, Thannet Earth, Cambridge University, Exeter University, Britsol, Mayfair, Southbank and Brick Lane.

In the fast car world it was brilliant photographing Mark Webber’s debut race in the World Endurance Championships at Silverstone.  Another highlight is that some of my photos have been used by Audi in their global Audi TT marketing campaign.  The printed brochure has just reached me in the post so I’ll do a little feature on it in the New Year.

On the adventure side of things, my new wheels Hercules (my ‘hot-to-trot’ road bike with orange handle bars) has played a big part and he has been to mountains in Southern Germany, cycled the London to Brighton (with just one day notice and 3 hours sleep because I was photographing a wedding the day before!) and took on the London 100 Olympic Cycle which was a tough slog in the torrential rain but oh so worth it, especially as the sun and blue sky appeared as I crossed the finishing line.

There have been quite a few travels on and off duty throughout the year.  In February I was in South Africa for a wedding and incorporated a few weeks into my travels to go on safari in Botswana as well as spend some time in Mozambique.  Corporate shoots in Almeria and Madrid, Spain were tough work with a jam-packed shooting schedule and lots of late nights… la manera de vida española!   I also had some first time visits to New York City, Key West in the Florida Keys, Croatia and Zanzibar.

So what next?!?!?!?  Well, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed 2014 and plan to make 2015 even better!  It is a tall order but I’m sure I can do it and if January, February and March are anything to go by things are going to be brill!

Before I sign off, a big, heart-felt THANK YOU to all the lovely people for whom I’ve photographed and worked with and to all of you who have followed the photos and my adventures this year.  I wish you all a wonderful festive season and a 2015 filled with fun, laughter, success and happiness – a big LEMON SQUEEZE to you all! xxx
