There is something incredibly special about Hartsfield Manor. From the moment you arrive along the tree-lined driveway, a lasting sense of occasion remains, however many times I’ve been.

Hartsfield Manor sits within 16 acres of stunning Surrey countryside in Betchworth, just a few miles from Reigate. It features beautifully maintained lawns, a garden terrace, and views across the rolling Surrey Downs. It is a quintessential English setting with a sense of grandeur and charm that makes it perfect for weddings.

The Manor itself is a magnificent Victorian house, originally built in the 1860s. Its history, architecture and character create a timeless feel that works beautifully for wedding photography.

The venue offers a range of ceremony options, from the elegant Hartsfield Lounge to the more intimate Brockham Room. For those wanting something outdoors, the gardens provide a stunning setting during the warmer months.

Following the ceremony, drinks receptions can take place on the terrace or within the beautifully styled interiors, leading into the wedding breakfast in the Terrace Restaurant.

The Camera Gear & Techniques I Use As A Professional Wedding Photographer

A question I am often asked is what camera gear I use on a wedding day. While the moments themselves are always the most important thing, having professional equipment that I know inside out allows me to capture everything beautifully in any situation.

I photograph weddings using Canon professional camera bodies and lenses. My current setup includes the Canon R5 mirrorless camera alongside two Canon 5D Mark IV bodies. This allows me to work quickly and confidently throughout the day while always having reliable backup equipment.

For wider storytelling shots, I use my 16–35mm, f2.8 lens and a 24mm lens. These are perfect for capturing the scale of the Manor, the gardens, group photos and energetic dance floor moments.

My 35mm lens is ideal for documentary-style coverage throughout the day, allowing me to stay close to the action while still capturing the surrounding atmosphere.

The lens I reach for most often is my 50mm f1.2, which creates beautiful depth and softness while capturing emotion and connection. It is perfect for couple portraits and those quieter moments during the day.

For portraits, I also use an 85mm prime lens, which allows me to step back slightly while creating elegant images with soft background separation.

Using this combination of cameras and lenses allows me to move seamlessly between wide scenes, natural candid moments and intimate portraits throughout the wedding day.
