A hotel guest happened to be walking a magnificent St Bernard around the grounds, and before long everyone was smiling. As huge dog lovers themselves, Mel and Ben could not resist stopping for a few photographs with their unexpected four-legged visitor.
It was a small moment, completely unplanned, yet it quickly became one of the most memorable parts of the day.

As daylight begins to fade, guests move effortlessly indoors while the atmosphere shifts from relaxed conversation to celebration. The beautiful glasshouse reception space feels completely different after dark, creating a wonderful setting for speeches, music and dancing.
Mel and Ben’s evening was full of energy from the very beginning.
Heartfelt speeches were followed by an incredible live band, and the dance floor quickly filled with guests who needed very little encouragement. The atmosphere felt joyful, vibrant and wonderfully relaxed, proving that Tortworth Court works just as well for unforgettable evening celebrations as it does for beautiful daytime weddings.
One particularly memorable surprise came when legendary guitarist Billy Duffy of The Cult performed for guests. It was an extraordinary moment that nobody expected, adding another unforgettable chapter to an already remarkable wedding day.

Spring brings fresh gardens and blossom, summer fills the grounds with colour and long evenings, autumn introduces rich golden tones across the estate and winter transforms the Victorian interiors into an elegant backdrop for cosy celebrations.
Every season offers something different without changing the character of the venue.
Mel and Ben chose a glorious summer wedding, which allowed them to enjoy an outdoor ceremony, drinks on the lawn and portraits beneath beautiful evening sunshine. The longer daylight also created plenty of flexibility for relaxed photography without rushing between different parts of the day.
Rather than choosing a season based purely on appearance, I always encourage couples to think about the atmosphere they want to create. Tortworth Court adapts beautifully all year round.
HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD YOU ALLOW FOR WEDDING PHOTOS AT TORTWORTH COURT?
One of the questions couples ask me most often is how much time they should set aside for portraits.
The answer is usually less than people expect.
Because everything is within easy walking distance, there is no need to spend long periods away from your guests. I usually recommend allowing around 20 to 30 minutes for relaxed couple portraits, often split into two shorter sessions if possible.
This approach keeps everything feeling natural while giving us the opportunity to photograph the venue in different light throughout the day.
